Stakeholder Engagement Officer (SEO)
Our client, a leading global technology company driving energy innovation and delivering specialized oilfield services, is urgently seeking a dynamic Stakeholder Engagement Officer (SEO). In this vital role, you will act as the core interface between field operations, host communities, regulatory bodies, and industry partners, safeguarding our client’s social license to operate and fostering strategic, sustainable partnerships by performing the following duties;
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Managing local stakeholder relationships through regular contact with local community representatives.
- Monitoring interaction between sub/Contractors, locally employed persons and local communities and report any impropriety or Concern to the Company
- Keeping acquainted with and following up on any local concerns the stakeholders may have.
- Mobilizing for and organizing regular public meetings in each community impacted by our client’s activities.
- Providing business insight and advising the Company about community activities that may impact operations.
- Supporting, Permitting and Compensation aspects in the Areas of operation where this may be required.
- Reporting weekly on community questions and perceptions about Client activities.
- General community issues and information important to our client, share general observations (in-migration to the area, new building being built etc.), conflict issues and/or rumors.
- Ensure access to, and maintain contacts with, key formal and informal stakeholders (opinion leaders) in communities on a regular basis.
- Explaining to stakeholders about client’s operational activities and what the company is and can do in terms of supporting the local communities.
- Identifying opportunities for client to support initiatives benefiting the community.
- Assisting environmental, social, and other Consultants in the consultation process with communities, local governments, civil society, and tourism.
- Receiving and helping resolve grievances, rigorously following up and engaging relevant third parties including Social Affairs Coordinator to intervene to close out the grievances.
- Providing feedback to our client’s Management from the stakeholders.
- Handling any land access and compensation-related initiatives.
- To be present (as the Social Affairs nominee) at any field visits so long as they are approved by the Directorate organized by our client’s Management.
Qualifications, Requirements and experience;
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Communications, Public Relations, Project Management, or any other relevant field.
- Must have at least 5 years of professional experience in stakeholder engagement, social performance, or community relations—ideally within the energy, oil and gas sectors.
- Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to develop and maintain good relations with a wide range of stakeholders including local communities, industry, NGOs, and international organizations.
- Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Build and maintain a network of local stakeholders and informed parties.
- Ability to chair large community meetings.
- Negotiation, and conflict management skills.
- High computer proficiency, especially working with worksheets, word, and databases.
- Good report writing and analytical skills.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) and local languages
