Utility Car Driver
Position Summary
The Utility Car Driver is responsible for operating light passenger and commercial utility vehicles (such as vans, station wagons, and pick-ups) to handle essential day-to-day administrative and field support logistics. This role demands high agility and precision, as it supports crew changes, quick delivery of port clearance documents, equipment parts transit, and emergency field responses across busy operational zones.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Safely transport operations staff, terminal crews, and visitors between administrative offices, customs checkpoints, and vessel berths.
- Execute urgent deliveries of time-sensitive shipping documents, port clearance paperwork, and small spare parts to operational hubs.
- Conduct strict daily pre-trip inspections (fluid levels, tire pressure, brakes, lights). Ensure vehicles remain immaculately clean, fueled, and roadworthy.
- Maintain flawless, accurate records of all trips, fuel consumption, mileages, and passenger details in the official vehicle logbook.
- Strictly adhere to the traffic laws of Kenya, NTSA speed limits, and internal terminal speed restrictions to ensure a zero-incident record.
- Assist field teams with general support duties during offsite errands, including coordinating loading and unloading of light utility cargo.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of continuous experience working as a corporate, commercial, or utility driver in a busy corporate or logistics setting.
- Valid NTSA Category B3 (Professional) or Category B, C, E driving license with a clean record and active smart DL status.
- Familiarity navigating Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) installations, customs gates, and container freight stations is a distinct advantage.
- Valid Certificate of Good Conduct is mandatory. Defensive driving certification from a recognized institution (e.g., AA Kenya) is highly valued.
- Thorough knowledge of local road networks; certified physically and medically fit; exceptional punctuality and discipline.
