Mobile Crane Operator (Grove Specialist)
Position Summary
The Grove Crane Operator is responsible for safely operating a Grove mobile crane to lift, move, and position heavy loads across manufacturing, maintenance, and engineering sites. This role demands meticulous attention to crane stability, pre-shift equipment checks, and close coordination with rigging teams to preserve a zero-harm workplace.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Operate a Grove mobile crane to lift, swing, and precisely position heavy materials and structures according to structural project plans.
- Expertly maneuver the crane boom, telescopic extensions, and hook blocks to safely reach designated lifting points.
- Continuously monitor load weight parameters and crane outrigger stability during active lifting cycles.
- Utilize computerized and hydraulic crane controls to make fine adjustments to lifting speeds, radius boundaries, and direction.
- Perform detailed daily checklists covering crane hydraulics, engine lines, and structural elements before initiating lifts.
Qualifications & Requirements
- KCSE D (plain) or its recognized equivalent.
- Valid NTSA driving license of class B, C, E paired with valid Forklift endorsement certificates.
- Minimum of 3 years of active experience operating mobile telescopic cranes (specifically Grove units). Experience within Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) installations or heavy industrial yards is a distinct advantage.
- Confirmed ability to safely operate crane computerized control systems and electronic load management indicators; basic level literacy in Microsoft applications.
- Must be fully certified as physically and medically fit.
