Reach Stacker Operator
Position Summary
The Reach Stacker Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating reach stacker equipment to handle containers within the terminal, yard, or designated work areas. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and capable of operating in a fast-paced maritime and logistics environment while maintaining compliance with company policies and operational procedures.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Operate reach stacker equipment for loading, unloading, and shifting containers from trucks, rail wagons, and yard storage stacks.
- Stack and relocate containers precisely in accordance with terminal procedures, yard optimization techniques, and safety standards.
- Handle all containers with extreme care to prevent structural damage to cargo, chassis, or surrounding equipment.
- Conduct daily equipment checks and promptly report mechanical issues or safety concerns to the supervisor.
- Accurately record and report container movements within the yard management framework.
- Adhere strictly to workplace safety protocols, wear required PPE at all times, and maintain an organized work area.
Qualifications & Requirements
- KCSE D (plain) or its recognized equivalent.
- Valid NTSA driving license of class B, C, E with a valid Forklift endorsement.
- Documented Top Loader Certificate.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role within a reputable organization.
- Expert knowledge of reach stacker operations, including telescopic boom handling, spreader attachments, load balancing, and basic mechanics.
- Core IT skills; strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills for multicultural team coordination.
- Physically fit to work outdoors under pressure, with the capacity to handle long shifts including nights and weekends.
